Scheduled Install & Update E2E on the fork was resolving install-ref against the workspace checkout. I read the merged .github/workflows/install-e2e-run.yml. I ran tests/ci/test_install_e2e_workflow.py on that tree: 8 passed. I did not re-run the 12-minute install.

The job now checks out NousResearch/hermes-agent at the requested ref with persist-credentials: false, moves it to $RUNNER_TEMP, and sets HERMES_DEV_SANDBOX_UPSTREAM. A same-named annotated v1 in the source tree is a decoy; the resolver has to print the upstream SHA and leave the source refs alone. GIT_DIR still selects a repository. PR #1 merged.
